Christmas Giving Project (application's/recommendation's)

By PIO Tyler Jones
October 5, 2024

For over 25 years Rescue Fire Company has hosted a Christmas Giving Project for the community. Through those years we have seen countless children smile as they receive toys food and clothes, they may have not otherwise gotten. Our program started off relatively small. We would get names from the Salvation Army Angel tree, our members would donate money, do the shopping, wrapping and delivering the items to the families. This worked really well, however we started noticing the needs were becoming greater than we could provide. More and more agencies started to contact us about people in the community needing assistance other than the kids needing toys. We then partnered with The Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay, GKD, The Elks Lodge, Mid-Shore Graphics, Blue Ruin, and The Dorchester Santa Toy Drive just to name few and were able to add additional families and assist with more needs.

In the past we have contacted The Salvation Army, Social Services, and schools to gather the names for consideration. Again we noticed that there is a large demographic we are not reaching. And this is where we decided we needed more help. We are now asking you, the community we service to help us out. Tell us about someone you know that needs assistance. Someone who may need food or blankets. Maybe a warm coat or shoes because theirs have holes. Tell us about your neighbor that doesn’t get any assistance and struggle each week to pay for basic necessities like soap and toothpaste or toilet paper. Do you know a single parent that’s doing all they can to take care of the kids and just needs a break? How about an elderly friend that would love some fresh baked cookies and a visit from Santa? We need to see the bigger picture of what’s happening in our community.

If you are willing to help us out, please fill out the attached form so we are able to see where we can help the most. Each form will be reviewed by our committee, however we cannot guarantee every applicant will receive assistance and as always, thank you for your continued support to Rescue Fire Company!

All forms must be received by 11/1/24
